The Garden Club of Jacksonville
Founded in 1922 by Ninah May Holden Cummer (Mrs. Arthur G. Cummer) in historic Riverside, the club’s main meeting place is located at the corner of Riverside Avenue and Post Street. The easily recognizable columned building overlooks the St. Johns River. It is centrally located and provides private parking, The large Ballroom and smaller Club Room are the locations for many gatherings and special events. They also provide meeting places for member groups and various associated societies.
The Ribault Club of Ft, George Island
was established in 1928 as a playground for the
affluent, The 16,000 square foot clubhouse
was designed in an International Mix / Island Plantation style by the
famous society architect, Maurice Fatio. The interior of the building
has many neoclassical features including fluted pilasters, classic
arches and entablatures above beautifully paneled doors. Most rooms
contain wainscoting, chair rails and picture rails, as well as the
original Terrazzo floors. Ceilings are generally 12 feet high, and there is almost 6000 square
feet of meeting and event space. This space overlooks the Fort George
River and Talbot Islands through 36 sets of French doors, 24 of which
have fanlights above. The event space is laid out in a U-shape and with
two extensions with and a connecting verandah. The space can be rented
in small, intimate rooms or in its entirety as one contiguous space.
Fort George Island is 30 minutes by car from both Jacksonville Airport
and Amelia Island, Florida.

Dolphin Plaza provides an airy, beachfront facility available for
banquets or meetings with an incredible view of northeast Florida sand
dunes and surf. The
air-conditioned building is nearly 2,000 square feet and contains a
refrigerator, microwave, sink, outdoor grill and restrooms.
St.Francis Barracks - St. Augustine, Florida
When the Spanish first colonized Florida, they brought Jesuit priests
along to minister to the needs of the settlers and to convert the local
Indians. By the 1570s, the Jesuits were replaced by the priests of the
Order of St. Francis. In 1588, they were assigned an area at the
southern end of the small city of St. Augustine for their convent
monastery and church, Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion. This land, the
present site of the Barracks, remained in religious use until the
British arrived in 1764.
